Message from Sto:lo Nation - Tyrone McNeil

Our people have known economic hardship in the past. At those times, our ancestors rose to the challenge and found
ways to meet the needs of their community. Today, many of our communities are facing adversity due to a downturn
in the forest industry and a declining fishery. These two sectors of the BC economy will not rebound anytime soon.
Like our ancestors, we need to face the reality of our situation and come up with new ways to create employment
and wealth for our young and growing population.
One of the organizations we have founded to help us meet some of today's challenges is Sto:lo Community Futures.
It is the task of Sto:lo Community Futures to assist our people create new businesses, expand existing enterprises
and encourage community economic development. The staff of Sto:lo Community Futures is made up of business
professionals, who are knowledgeable about the wide range of helpful federal and provincial programs and prepared
to assist the first time enterpriser, the established business and community with advice that will help them
realize their goals. I urge you to pursue your business and development aspirations by teaming up with our
skilled professionals at Sto:lo Community Futures.
